Karen

Karen trained at the College of Traditional Acupuncture in the UK, where she received her Licentiate in Acupuncture and a BA(Hons) from Oxford Brooks University in 2003.She began receiving acupuncture herself during an extremely trying time in her life, and says ‘acupuncture is what kept me on the planet, so much so that I wanted to make it not only a career, but a way of life, a personal cultivation’.

Karen is a skilled acupuncturist with over 10 years experience working with her patients to evaluate the concerns they bring to treatment and provide the care they need to heal and move joyfully into their lives.  She has volunteered her acupuncture skills to Acupuncturists Without Borders in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, and in Springfield, MA after the tornado in 2011.  She began working with people with multiple sclerosis, and chronic fatigue right after graduating, and has worked hard with them to help them manage and improve their lives.

Karen has a focus on trauma recovery, including combat and critical incident trauma, and she has been providing a free clinic for veterans, military personnel, first responders and their families since 2007.

In 2005, she opened Greenfield Community Acupuncture, providing high quality acupuncture in a group setting in order to make the medicine she loves available to more people.  Community acupuncture (people having treatments in a room with other people, all in comfortable recliners) makes it possible to reduce the cost of a treatment to that of a co-pay – or less.  As far as she knows, she is the only community acupuncture clinic in the country that does not offer a sliding scale, but has a fixed fee of $25 for all treatments, except on Tuesdays (every Tuesday), when treatments are $11.

Her practice evolves through her work with her patients, and her ongoing continuing education and self-directed study.

She is fully licensed  by the state of Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine, and certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
